Tell us about your show
It's vibrant, fun, something for everyone. I like to focus on nostalgia. Try to provoke a memory or take people back to a time. I like the upbeat songs. I encourage requests because I like to know what entertains people, what does the listener want to hear. I focus heavily on the 90s and the 00s. Although I do love a little theme day like a country day or if something is being celebrated I try to incorporate that into my show.
What inspired you to become a radio presenter?
I love music, music for me is a release. It's reminds me of good times it helps to lift the mood when your not feeling your best. It has the power to make you happy in an instant. It can remind you of a place, a person or a time in you life. Music is a great healer. I wanted to present because I can't act hahaha I love the radio, I love connecting with the community. I love being that Saturday morning voice people hear and can wake up to.
What do enjoy most about your show?
The people. The calls, the texts the overall communication with people and understanding why they want a particular song or why a song is important to them. It's a privilege to be a part of a small moment in time that can make some have a found memory. I also love the freedom of doing my show my way and playing the song I know people will enjoy.
What’s your favourite type of show to host?
I love a themed show like the 90s. You have no idea how much love these shows get. People love a theme. Every time I do a theme people get involved. It's the involvement I love the most. The interaction with the community. I love it when people support local.
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you on air?
When I was brand new out of the box. I forgot to turn my mic off and someone was in the studio and we had a full scale conversation live on air about absolute nonsense. I was mortified because I got a lot of texts and calls to say Rosie shut up lol
If you weren’t a radio presenter, what would you be doing?
On a Saturday morning probably very little. I love to write to so probably continue or do a little more on the writing front. But Saturdays are my therapy, I love my show. It puts me in such a good mood for the rest for the day.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I write. I have written two plays, I have facilitated writing classes. I have been in several anthologies. I just enjoy being creative. I also am a passive gym goer lol which means I go when something important is coming up lol
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Time travel back like the flash. Maybe pick out unhappy memories for people.
Who's your favourite Band or Artist?
Brandi Carlisle.. absolute amazing story teller and her voice is phenomenal. In my opinion she has the most incredible voice. She could sing me the yellow pages and id love it.
